My reason for giving this restaurant 4 out of 5 stars is that as a local who goes there fairly often, my personal preference would be to see an additional "special" dinner choice or two once in a while.to change it up a bit. and you will find many wonderful ice cream and candy/chocolate stores to satisfy your sweet tooth. If you feel the need, just take a stroll down Washington Ave. However, if you're an onion ring lover, the Black and Tan Onion Rings (beer battered and drizzled with stout beer) are a must! I've never noticed any desserts on the menu, but that's alright. And lastly, as sides, both the fries and seasonal sides (I love the slaw!) are great. My husband has tried them, and they were met with his approval. I'm not a huge pasta lover, but there are even a couple of pasta selections that look good, even to me. There is a nice selection of appetizers, fabulous steak burgers, fresh baked Forge sandwiches, chicken, seafood and premium steak dinners. It's a good idea after those drinks, and the food is delicious! Once seated, service is generally decently timed, and the servers pleasant. I don't know if it extends beyond the Cedarburg city limits, but be it in a restaurant or local tavern, this drink can be quite elaborate and often considered a meal in a glass! Whatever the case, since you're at the Anvil, go ahead and order up some actual food anyway. Or, you could hang out in their bar (though its a bit small) where you can partake in some appetizers, wine, cocktails or give their version of a Bloody Mary a try. You can easily give the host or hostess your cell number for them to call you while your browsing the close by shops. During the busiest times, it can be a bit of a wait to get a table. The Anvil is open for lunch, dinner, happy hours M-F (4-6) and has an additional special Sunday brunch menu. During the warmer months, there's also lovely outdoor patio seating in the back, overlooking Cedar Creek. The location is perfect, housed in the Cedar Creek Settlement shops, just steps away from the entrance to the Cedar Creek Winery. Though sorry it closed, I was happy to see aptly named Anvil Pub & Grille carrying on with that theme, incorporating the cleaned up antique walls of the structure, with modern touches blended beautifuly with black wrought-iron and wood. Previously, the space housed a working blacksmithing shop. Thank you.The Anvil Pub & Grille is a popular place, both with locals like myself and tourists out for a day of sightseeing, shopping and wine tasting. She was very personable and professional. However, Tina our waitress was making the best of the situation. I’m writing this in good humor and will end here, although I have more criticisms. She’s 90 lbs, extra small, petite, so she wasn’t too underserved. She got about 1.2 veggie portions, one slice of green pepper, and about 8 slices zucchini. My wife asked for double veggies over the potato. “Choice of potato” was limited to fries or garlic mashed. Maybe, it was her Chardonnay, which she liked. My wife added ketchup to the salmon and veggies. That would have been ok, but everyone else around us had a hard copy (preferred) menu and people seated after us were served ahead of us. to use a QR reader to get a cryptic menu. With reservations, the Maitre ‘D had us wait while he answered the phone (not asking the caller to hold), then go check on “something”, then wouldn’t give us a menu, but instead we had. We reasonably hoped to have a nice dinner experience. Restaurants with Outdoor Seating in Cedarburg.Restaurants for Group Dining in Cedarburg.
